bc basically tme/tma is getting to whether or not you are affected by transmisogyny but like, even putting aside that marginalizations don’t exist in a vacuum like that and everyone is affected by them, a lot of people use the terms like interchangeably with assigned gender at birth (ie., afab people are tme, amab people are tma) when cis masc women such as butches, bois, and studs, especially those who are of color or in particular those who are Black, are also affected and by transmisogyny as defined by julia serano and expanded upon by other transfeminine authors and theorists after her
this isn’t even to mention the fact that you can be afab or amab and be trans while also not identifying with the oppositional gender to your agab, and it’s like, so what then? are non-binary trans ppl who are amab but don’t identify as transfeminine tma? are afab people at the liberty to claim to be tma and/or opt out of the label of tme? i personally don’t like identifying as afab or transmasculine but i rather disclose those than just broadly stating that i’m tme bc i don’t think i’m at the liberty to determine such a thing based on the perceptions of cisgender people
